Murder By Mouseclick

One doesn't become a parent by giving birth. Were that the case, no man had ever been one. Rather, one becomes a parent by conceiving a child. Wherever, however, whenever that may occur.

You may have seen or heard of this blog. Pete and Alisha of Minnesota have decided to give Americans a real chance to make a difference with their vote. To generously offer Americans the opportunity "to do more than voice their concern to their elected representative." Pete and Alisha have decided to give you and I an opportunity to make a real difference in the world with our vote, a vote on whether to dispatch their child on December 9th (the last day they could legally do so) or to bring it to term and deliver it.

Oh how truly magnanimous of them. Meanwhile, they're sure to reap a hefty sum from the advertisements showing up on what are sure to be some hefty hits.

I chose not to "vote" in their poll. I cannot participate in something that treats human life so lightly, and with such harrowing consequences. Instead, I took note of the various advertisers that showed up here and there. I wrote to Pete and Alisha privately through their Contact Us link, pleading in earnest for the child's life, and informing them that I could not, and would not, participate in their poll.

You might consider doing the same.

And then sit back and ponder that you aren't reading Aldoux Huxley's Brave New World. You're living it.

Did you offer to adopt their baby if they decide "they're not ready?"

Imagine if they did the same thing with their 6 month old infant, sending out a similar message, with pictures of the baby and all, just like the ultrasound.

Their doors would be broken down, the child taken into protective custody, they'd be thrown in jail, and instead of a happy, outdoor picture of the married couple, the world would've seen them in orange jumpsuits and shackles.

Its very sad that they, as Christians, would so misconstrue God's gift of their creative powers and the gift of a New Human Life entrusted to their care and protection as some sort of small creature over whom they have the power of life or death.

Forget their 6 month old baby, what if they posted a picture of a kitten and said, "We will shoot this kitten if you vote so, and we'll keep it alive if you vote so."

The kitten and the shackled couple would both be on national television in a heartbeat, and the kitten would be adopted by some truly charitable person before long.

Heaven help us!

Funny. Looks like he might be one of your own.

sksfreund, THANK YOU for digging this up. It is a great relief to know that these people weren't serious - but I would not qaulify them as "one of my own." Whatever sentiments this character might have toward abortion, there is NOTHING right about pulling this kind of stunt. Nothing at all.
